How Do I Check Whether an App Is Approved?

Modified on Thu, Sep 10 at 8:46 AM

WNESU maintains a public list of online resources that have been reviewed through the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC).

Before using a new app, website, or online service with students, check the registry to confirm its approval status.

Check an App or Online Resource

  1. Open the District Agreements Listing on our page of the Student Data Privacy Consortium Website.
  2. Find the application or resource in the list.
  3. Check the Agreement Status and confirm it is Approved.

Be sure you are looking at the correct version of the product. Free, paid, classroom, and district versions of the same application may have different approval requirements.

Understanding the Status

  • Approved: A data privacy agreement is in place.
  • Approved with Restrictions: The resource may be used only under the conditions listed in the registry.
  • Approved with Guardian Release: Use is limited to the specific circumstances described and requires guardian permission.
  • Renewal Pending: An existing agreement is approaching expiration and is being reviewed for renewal.
  • Not Approved or Declined: The resource may not be used with students.
  • Did Not Pursue: WNESU did not continue the approval process, and the resource may not be used with students.

An application appearing in the registry does not necessarily mean WNESU has purchased it, has licenses available, or supports every possible use of it. Always review the complete entry and any restrictions.

What If the App Is Not Listed?

If an application or website does not appear in the registry, it has not been approved for use by WNESU.

Do not create student accounts, upload class lists, provide student or staff information, or begin using the resource with students.

Submit a New App, Software, or Hardware Request so the Technology Department can review it. When appropriate, Technology will coordinate with the Director of Innovation & Instruction, curriculum staff, school administrators, or other district leaders.

Please wait for approval before purchasing or beginning to use the resource.
